Recipes for Consent

Workshop in the frame of the TOOPen Festival, Ghent

Recipes for Consent emerged from a workshop organised by the model of The Kinship Cookbook on 13 November 2025 at CAMPO Victoria in Ghent. Over a shared meal, participants explored what consent feels like beyond its usual yes-or-no framing. Guided by Katherine Angel’s idea of consent as something we navigate rather than decide once, the group worked with the subtleties that shape real encounters: hesitation, appetite, boundaries, and the unspoken signals that move between people.

Throughout the evening, memories and sensations surfaced—flavours linked to family, inherited gestures, and stories about pleasure and permission that resist tidy explanations. Participants translated these impressions into metaphors, sketches, ingredients, and fragments.

The resulting “recipes” are not instructions or conclusions. They are traces of an unfolding conversation, capturing the messiness, curiosity, and resonance of that shared moment.
